Soms heb ik een onderwerp dat niet geschikt is voor een hele beschouwing, maar toch de moeite waard om er iets over te schrijven. Ik noem dit een persoonlijke notitie. Zo’n notitie heeft geen andere pretentie dan dat ik hoop dat deze, in ieder geval voor sommige lezers, interessant of curieus genoeg is om er kennis van te nemen.

Should an artist be original? From the ‘signature styles’ of Modern Art to the hermetic technical ‘theories’ of composers like Cage and Boulez and Xenakis, the necessity of originality has been virtually built into the appreciation of the work of art. The musing below is just a hint at an attempt to ethically move beyond ‘originality’ as usually understood to a less personal, more objective (or object oriented) strategy, of method, or path of poetic action. Yes, I think it is a path of poetic action that I am musing on here…

 

 


  • De blokfluit en ik

    De blokfluit is een mooi instrument, maar dat ik er voor ging schrijven kwam vooral doordat goede blokfluitisten mijn pad kruisten.
    Iets over de spelers, zoals Saskia Coolen, La Fontegara en Brisk Blokfluitkwartet, en de stukken die ik voor ze schreef.
