On the hymn ‘Ave maris stella’. Third movement of the Super Suite.
This is a true ‘fusion’ version of that beautiful melody, the tune first being presented in a kind of funky klezmer guise but gradually evolving (backwards, as it were) to its original shape – history being the ‘guiding star’.
